Magers & Quinn

Magers & Quinn, one of the largest independent bookstores in the Midwest, is an independently owned new and used bookseller located in the heart of the popular Uptown neighborhood in Minneapolis, near the chain of lakes for which Minneapolis is famous. Located in Uptown and in operation since 1994, when Denny Magers moved his smaller bookstore, All Books, from its location near the University of Minnesota to Hennepin Avenue and gave the store its current name. From rather humble beginnings (some of us can still remember when many of our books were laid out on tables instead of bookshelves) the store has steadily grown. Thanks to the support of the book-loving Twin Cities community, and supporters from across the globe. For over 30 years Magers & Quinn has been sharing our love of books and reading with a passion to contribute to a livable community in which books play an important part. We are a function of our great Twin Cities community of readers, and a welcoming place for travelers.

C.A. Nethery General Merchandise

Locals refer to this historic Texas monument as "Nethery's Store" because it is one of the few old rural stores that still has its original antique display and sales fixtures. All the essentials for a basic country existence were in Nethery's Store when it opened for business in 1880 behind thick metal-clad double timber doors. It was well known that Nethery's Store carried everything from caskets to baby bottles! It is still one of Sabine County, Texas's oldest retail structures today. The Store is situated in Milam, Texas, on the historic El Camino Real, which is now Texas Highway 21. This road was used as early as 1690, during the Spanish Colonial Era.

Address: 280 Hwy 21 W, Milam, TX 75959

Northwind Book & Fiber

Northwind Book & Fiber has been a community favorite since 1993, when Alene and Norm Peterson combined their love of books with Alene’s passion for yarn and weaving to open a cozy bookstore and yarn shop. Originally located across the street in a much smaller space, the store moved in 2000 to its current home at 205 Walnut Street—a beautifully restored 1915 building that once housed a hardware store for 85 years. In 2007, longtime employee Carol Blizzard Dunn took over ownership, bringing her lifelong love of books full circle. Carol grew up in Elgin, Illinois, worked in her local library, studied at Kalamazoo College, and later earned a Master’s in Public Policy & Administration from UW-Madison. After working for the state, she and her husband Jamie relocated north for his DNR job—and quickly fell in love with the area. Today, Northwind Book & Fiber continues to thrive as a welcoming space for book lovers, fiber artists, and curious visitors alike.
