Upon Waking
"Upon Waking: 58 Voices Speaking Out From the Shadow of Abuse" is the culmination of the Let's Talk About It! Poetry Project created by Annette Gagliardi and Laura Kozy Lanik and represents the work of 58 poets from around the state and the country and Canada. Whether we have had first hand experiences or not, the subject of abuse shapes the world we are in. It is our hope that the many victims of abuse can find solace within these pages or that their voice is echoed in one or more of these poems.

Proper Poems for Proper Ladies
This limited edition chapbook could be called a tribute to women, but it is more of a hug, more of a glimpse into the realities of life as a female, more of a recalling of the many facets of femininity. This book salutes the abilities of women, extols the variety of who women are and pays homage to female capacities. “Annette Gagliardi inspires, provokes and humors us with this selection of poems. What a wonderful way to celebrate femininity.” ~ Erica Onsrud, Minneapolis You can buy a copy of “Proper Poems for Ladies . . . and a few naughty ones, too!” by contacting the author.

A Short Supply of Viability
A Short Supply of Viability" provides insight, thoughtful consideration of issues, glimpses of those being cared for, and relief from grief. It is a must read and a welcoming balm for anyone faced with becoming a caregiver, whether it be in a professional capacity or taking care of a loved one whose health is declining.

Caffeinated
This collection pays homage to the beverages we so love to wake up to, so love to enjoy throughout the day, in many ways, and that we so love to imbibe before bed. Sunny and funny poems are interspersed with more serious ones that provide a punch, because coffee helps us think deep thoughts. Yet we don’t want to take ourselves too seriously. The book ends the collection with a couple poems full of gratitude for the day and the availability of caffeine, in its many forms.

A Short Supply of Viability
“Do the heartbeats used for those dreams destroy lives lived in spite of them.
“Would you languish for that loss, as well?”
Natural imagery weaves through the themes of dying and caregiving. In “Geraniums,” one of several poems exploring the grief of losing a parent, stanzas alternate between caring for a withering plant and caring for an ill loved one. The stanzas express the mixture of a household chore with internality, as if the speaker is ruminating on things that have passed, wondering what could have been different. Gagliardi’s exploration of the exhaustion associated with caregiving and the way this moves into the readiness to say goodbye is done smoothly, transitioning from one emotion to the next and into the final stages of grief with the grace and beauty often not given to death. I think that death, while a topic far from taboo in poetry, is not always looked at from multiple angles. We witness the perspective of someone bearing witness to a life being lost while speaking on the way it impacts how the speaker sees their own eventual passing. This is a collection to re-read, even if just as a comfort after the loss of another loved one, a therapeutic addition to poetry lovers’ bookshelves. Gagliardi’s talent as a poet is apparent from the start. This comforting collection will soothe those in the mood for reflection in and around the hardest times.
